Emily Blunt, known by some for her roles in The Edge of Tomorrow and The Devil Wears Prada, is starring in a new book-to-movie adaptation in 2016. She has been filming alongside Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, and Rebecca Ferguson in Paula Hawkins’s best selling book The Girl on the Train. This movie is being directed by Tate Taylor (The Help).
Emily plays the character Rachel Watson, a divorcée going through a difficult time that becomes engrossed in the lives of a couple she witnesses regularly on the train. Tate describes Emily’s character, Rachel, as a “train wreck,” whose emotional damage is very apparent in the film. When Rachel sees something she shouldn’t see, involving the couple she has dubbed “Jason and Jess” during her train rides, she begins an investigation of her own.
Entertainment Weekly has released two photos from the production in a first look they posted at the end of December.
The movie is set in New York City, unlike the book, though Emily still plays a British character.
We’ll share more news about this upcoming movie as information is released, but for now we can look forward to seeing it in theaters on October 7, 2016.
