Vanessa Hudgens has just been cast in a new comedy TV show (called Powerless), set in the DC Comics TV universe. The pilot has yet to be filmed, so we’ll have to wait to see if it will be picked up, but it is being created for NBC with creator Ben Queen (A to Z) and in association with Warner Bros. TV.
Hudgens will play Emily Locke in Powerless, an insurance claims adjuster that likes to remain invisible as she helps people in her day to day duties. But all of that is about to change when Emily starts to become frustrated by the different superheroes that are moving to her city.
Powerless is said to be a half-hour single-camera comedy to break up the big drama line-up DC already has across multiple networks, like The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Arrow, and Gotham.
We look forward to seeing how Hudgens does in this role if it’s picked up, especially after how amazing she did as Rizzo in the recent Grease: Live, a performance she pulled off while grieving for her father’s death shortly before filming.
